Fight or Stand

How often have you heard the statement that those that belong to the Lord must fight and take back the ground the devil has taken from those it rightfully belongs to.

Surprisingly nowhere in scripture is this command given by either Jesus or any of his disciples.

What the word does tells us to do is stand and when we done all we can, we stand again.

Ephesians 6:13-14: Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.

Stand on what you may ask; the word of God is your answer.

Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

It is not up to us to go out there and wage a war against men who walk in evil ways, that is the Lord’s task if we walk according to His will and way.

We are not at war with men but as a soldier in the Lord’s army the Captain of the hosts tells us exactly what we should do and who we are facing on our journey through this earth.

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Many are simply wasting their time and effort in many of the things they do in the Lord’s name upon this earth simply because they are walking to the ways of man / religion and not in the ways of the Lord.

Our Father, God Almighty is a mighty God and nothing will stand in His way and will. Let the Holy Spirit write upon your heart the things of the Lord and then you shall walk in them with understanding.

Luke 6:28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Romans 12:19: Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

In all cases where you face men upon this earth who are being used by those spiritual powers in high places then pray for them without ceasing and loose and set free the Lord in those places.

Just one example in my life:

For eight years now I have lived in a place where the house is totally isolated. The location is a park in an urban area, the house has wooden shutters over all the windows and the door to my living quarters has had an iron grill installed to stop the ones that walk this park all hours of the night kicking the door in.

When I first came to live in this place many walked this park late at night. One was a young man who had been in prison, meet Jesus in there but due to an action of one person in that ministry on his release he went straight back into the world. He knew the word far better than me, yet he was trapped in this world of drugs and glue sniffing.

Early one morning he knocked at my door, time 3am. I asked the Lord what I should do. The Lord initially told me to ignore him as one could tell he was under the influence of glue. This young man persisted in banging on the door and the words that began to pour from his mouth were not his as he was saying things about my life that he would never know.

The Lord then told me to get up and go and face this young man. The words that poured from my mouth included a passage that said the Lord has taken his hands off him and has handed him over to the devil. At these words a great fear fell upon this young man and he fled from the park running as fast as his feet could carry him.

I did not see this young man for some months but prayed for him when prompted by the Holy Spirit. Three months later he came back, his left leg was in a metal brace. He proceeded to tell me what had happened after that night.

He informed me he was riding his bicycle down the road the next day when a car hit him causing a serious fracture to his left leg, hence the metal brace. He had been in hospital for that period of time due to the serious nature of the injury.

He also asked me for forgiveness for his actions that night but none was required as he had not offended me in any way and he was informed of this so he had his release for any action he thought he had taken against me. I have seen this young man twice since then but only in passing but he never comes near the park anymore.

I can hear people say now, our Father in heaven would never get a car to run him over and they would be right. But what many do not fail to understand God did take His hands off him and handed him over to the devil and his demons and they tried to take his life.

I believe the Lord would not allow this to happen for at some stage in his life this 35 year old man is going to be used in a mighty way for the Lord.

I did what the Lord told me to do, bless those that curse you and did not lift a hand against him, like call the police, the Lord did the rest.

Our Father in heaven is not going to stand by and let His children be over run if they walk according to his way and word but we will be if we do not.

He is not some weak God, as scripture shows us how he deals with his enemies, but many of His children have been lead in such a way they fail to understand His ways and therefore fail to walk in them.

This lack of understanding causes our Father much grief in heaven for so many of his children are cowering in their caves when faced with the evil around them.

Remember, we are not called to fight, but to stand. We are not called to take action against men in the physical sense but to pray for them without ceasing and then we will see the hands of the Lord move.

Remember when you are in the Lord’s will and walk in His way, you have the might and power of God Almighty and His army of angels with you in that place you have been called to stand in.

I would encourage you when faced with a circumstance to go into your closet and pray without ceasing and call unto the Lord, your Father, give Him no rest and you will see him deliver you from anything that surrounds you just as David shows us in Psalms.

Consider this verse from Psalms, Psalms 9:17: The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
