The Cross and Crucifixion

I was not to know that day I stood in the crowd outside Jerusalem just how the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on that wooden cross would bring such a change in this earthly world.

Many in this crowd were jeering and speaking such vile words, yet others were on their knees weeping uncontrollably.

Their hands were lifted up to the man whose crucifixion on that cross caused rejoicing and tears to flow at that moment of time.

I had meet this man before on my travels. I had sat down at his invitation with a small group of men he was speaking to you at some cross roads I had reached on my travels.

I was hungry and shivering from the cold and walking down this road to places that I knew not.

The warmth of their fire attracted me but as I edged closer to their fire this man I now know as Jesus Christ lifted up his eyes from the men he was speaking to and looked directly at me speaking my name.

His tone was one where it demanded my attention and yet it was so soft and clear and filled me with what I now know to be the love of all men.

His words that were spoken to me ripped right through to the spirit within and tears flowed freely down my cheeks. This man seemed to know exactly what was inside me, not just in my mind but in my spirit as well.

He told me things about myself that no man could know and the burden that was upon my life in this world was lifted as though someone had come along and physically taken the load I had carried since the day I was born into this world.

Standing amongst this crowd on this fateful day for mankind, I too wept and fell upon my knees at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ upon that wooden cross erected on that hill by those commanded to carry out this task.

I was not to know though just how much his crucifixion by men and the words which were spoken by him has caused so much joy, wonder and revelation as well as so much anger and hatred in this world.

It was not until much later when I saw him again walking amongst his people, speaking and exhorting them to go and tell all men why he had come upon this earth that I truly understood the significance of his crucifixion.

These words spoken by him rung in my ears then and are forever etched in my heart, I was born to die not to live so that all men could return unto their Father who art in heaven.

Men still today deny that the crucifixion of Jesus upon the cross ever occurred and go out of their way to try and disprove his death on the cross and resurrection three days later but they fail at every turn.

This causes great sadness and distress in the throne room of God Almighty but he tells me many men will reject him and his way as they have done since the beginning of time.

For me though it was the beginning of a walk upon this earth on a path that I would not of travelled had I meet this man who reached out and touched me right where I was at that moment of time.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His resurrection are the two most important events in human history. Why is this so? Because of Jesus' death, all men have the opportunity for eternal salvation.
